It is a faithful, hand-built reconstruction of how a search engine worked in 2004 — a real crawler, a real inverted index, real PageRank — assembled from scratch for no practical reason whatsoever. Like a banana duct-taped to a wall, its value isn't in its function. It's in the gesture.
